When you talk about U2, Black Eyed Peas, The Police, Sting, Jay-z, Red Hot Chili Peppers or 50 Cent, a common denominator comes to mind: Vello Virkhaus, one of the world`s most talented VJs.

This is an explosive encounter between contemporary opera, choreography by Kamel Ouali and the genius of Pierrick Sorin. As Eric Rohmer once did for film, composer Gérard Pesson and stage & video designer Pierrick Sorin have created an opera inspired from the old French poem “Roman des Romans”.
Video staging is from Pierrick Sorin, an artist videographer renowned for his “optical theatres”. Having made quite an impression in Parme and Paris for his staging work on Rossini’s La Pietra del Paragone opera, Pierrick Sorin now wishes to “experience more freedom, to have some breathing space that isn’t subjected to the limitations of some particular technique, and to try out diversified visual structures.” He uses no less than 5 VIXID video mixing consoles to satisfy his creative needs.
VIXID was involved with this creation from its inception, by providing a tailor-made technical solution to steer the 5 video mixers easily and simultaneously.
As part of the Agora Festival, the opera will be performed on June 18th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2009, at the Châtelet theatre in Paris.
