100,000 people at the Electric Daisy Carnival with Vello Virkhaus video mix

100,000 people at the Electric Daisy Carnival with Vello Virkhaus
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – 26th & 27th june 2009

When you talk about U2, Black Eyed Peas, The Police, Sting, Jay-z, Red Hot Chili Peppers or 50 Cent, a common denominator comes to mind: Vello Virkhaus, one of the world`s most talented VJs.

As a recent VIXID user, Vello Virkhaus chose the Electric Daisy Carnival, North America`s greatest electronic music festival, to make use of the VJX16-4 video mixer`s potential. 100,000 people were there to admire the shows put together by this amazing VJ.

The festival takes place in 3 acts that are spread across the United States. This year, it began in Colorado and will end in Puerto Rico next August 14th. On the occasion of this 2nd act, Los Angeles offered clubbers 2 full days at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to enjoy electro rhythms, set attractions and huge video walls. Since the venue could just about hold the 100,000 people, needless to say that this 13th edition was a total success, with the stadium cracking at the seams.

Following the event, Vello Virkhaus was quick to express how impressed he was with the VJX16-4...

Pastorale opera, direction Pierrick Sorin

The "Pastorale" opera

Video director : Eric Perroys
Choreography : Kamel Ouali
Conductor : Jean-Yves Ossonce

This is an explosive encounter between contemporary opera, choreography by Kamel Ouali and the genius of Pierrick Sorin. As Eric Rohmer once did for film, composer Gérard Pesson and stage & video designer Pierrick Sorin have created an opera inspired from the old French poem “Roman des Romans”.

Video staging is from Pierrick Sorin, an artist videographer renowned for his “optical theatres”. Having made quite an impression in Parme and Paris for his staging work on Rossini’s La Pietra del Paragone opera, Pierrick Sorin now wishes to “experience more freedom, to have some breathing space that isn’t subjected to the limitations of some particular technique, and to try out diversified visual structures.” He uses no less than 5 VIXID video mixing consoles to satisfy his creative needs.
VIXID was involved with this creation from its inception, by providing a tailor-made technical solution to steer the 5 video mixers easily and simultaneously.

As part of the Agora Festival, the opera will be performed on June 18th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2009, at the Châtelet theatre in Paris.

Stuff Happens - Théâtre des Amandiers

"Stuff Happens" - a play by David Hare
Nanterre-Amandiers Theatre
13th May - 14th June 2009

Stuff happens… and it's untidy, and freedom's untidy, and free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things.

The American Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld's famous response to the looting of Baghdad, at a press conference of 11 April 2003, provides the title the play written by David Hare, about the extraordinary process leading up to the invasion of Iraq.

How does the world settle its differences, now there is only one superpower? What happens to leaders risking their credibility with sceptical publics? From events which have dominated international headlines for the last two years David Hare has fashioned both a historical narrative and a human drama about the frustrations of power and the limits of diplomacy.
